Overview:
Designed as an experimental long-range FPV platform, the NewBeeDrone LionBee 3inch Long Range ELRS2.4 AIO Developer Kit introduces a highly unconventional approach to lightweight 1S drone design. Built around a structural-integrated 18650 battery and flight controller architecture, the LionBee combines the battery chamber directly into the AIO mounting structure, reducing complexity while improving rigidity, electrical efficiency and vibration resistance. This innovative layout allows the platform to extract significantly more performance from a single 18650 cell than traditional long-range micro builds.

Rather than functioning as a conventional ready-built FPV drone, the LionBee is aimed at pilots, developers and experimenters who want a modular platform for tuning, modification and long-range testing. The included developer kit contains the core electronics, frame components and propulsion system required to assemble a lightweight 3in analogue FPV quad, while still leaving room for community-driven optimisation and customisation.

At the heart of the system is the custom LionBee AIO flight controller featuring an AT32F435 processor, integrated SPI ExpressLRS 2.4GHz receiver and an AM32-based 32-bit 5A ESC system. The platform also incorporates an 800mW Smart-Max VTX with adaptive thermal control, helping maintain stable analogue video performance during extended flights. Combined with efficient 1202 11420KV motors and 3in Gemfan propellers, the system is capable of surprisingly long hover and cruising times from a single high-discharge 18650 Li-ion battery.

A major design focus of the LionBee is power delivery efficiency. Unlike traditional spring-contact battery holders, the kit uses a custom 0.5mm brass high-current conduction system designed to reduce resistance and better support modern high-discharge 18650 cells such as the JP30 series. Additional practical features, including reverse-polarity protection, modular replaceable battery chambers and GPS support, further reinforce its role as a development-oriented long-range platform.

Released as a Developer Kit, the LionBee is designed for pilots, engineers, and innovators who want to take part in shaping the next generation of micro long-range FPV. It is more than a product- it’s an expandable, experimental platform for R&D exploration and community-driven evolution.
